A rarely seen beautiful antique brooch, certainly pre-Victorian, likely Georgian or Regency - not marked, but conforms to styles of the early to mid 1800s. I think this might have started life as a pendant or stomacher, with a pendant hanging, that has been lost to time. 

Later silver pin finding. 7.1 grams, at least 14K on the gold, silver finding for pin, where the original slide loops, for a skilled jeweler the pin finding is easily sliced off to wear in the intended "slide" style. Measures 2" east to west, at 1" north to south with a decided curve to fit closer to the neck (or garment). Nine diamonds, eight of them are rose cut, bezel, the centered diamond is a table cut gemstone that is set in a high engraved bezel, the bright high sparkle diamond has not been graded, close back but faces up gorgeously and very fine for the period. All diamonds appear original and this is certainly a handmade piece of jewelry, appropriate for the collector of early pre-machined jewels.

These reproduction jewels, with (so called) polki diamonds (sometimes even Moissanite!) and show sloppy workmanship; these pieces now display the level of wear that accumulates over time and can fool collectors and dealers.
