Fifteen Old Nursery Rhymes with new linocuts by Biddy Darlow. (Bristol, The Perpetua Press, 1935).  150 copies only printed.

30 x 23.5 cms. 32 leaves, 15 full-page coloured linocuts opposite text.

Printed on hand-made paper by David Bland and Vivian Ridler in a very limited edition.  The Perpetua Press was established in 1931 (when Ridler was only 18) and this book was chosen as one of the 50 best books of the year by the First Edition Club.

Vivian Ridler went on to a distinguished career in printing and was for 20 years the Printer to the University of Oxford; David Bland worked for Faber and Faber.  Biddy Darlow illustrated other books as well as teaching at the Ruskin School of Art and Bath Academy of Art but these delightful linocuts are possibly her best, and certainly, her best-known work.
