This lot comprises two antique postcards from the WWI era of postcards featuring Christmas-themed designs the have been sewn in silk threads.. Embroidered silk postcards were popular with British soldiers during the First World War. Silk postcards were made in France and Belgium. The designs were hand-embroidered by people at home and then sent to a factory to be pasted into a card. They were sold to soldiers at army camps and shops.

• Christmas Greetings, with an embroidered oval center medallion and threaded ribbon along the top. Verso is not stamped and cancelled, but does have a message written on it. Some very light edge and corner wear, but overall in very nice condition.
• Christmas Greetings, with majority of front of card embroidered with flowers and bird design holding up a banner that says, “Christmas Greetings”. Blank verso. Light soiling and discoloration to front, very light edge and corner wear, but overall in very nice condition.
