This edition has been handled over the years but for the most part remains in decent condition. The covers are bright enough but have light corner bumping and rubbing. The top of the spine has a wrinkle and the rear has a vertical surface flaw. The hinges have a shake but have been reinforced (see pics) and are sturdy. The first two advert pages are missing and the next half dozen of the remaining pages are creased. The textblock has had two sets of repairs, one older and one recent. There is taping or paper reinforcement on a half dozen gutters (see French pic). About five pages have ink notes. See the British pic for the worst of this. A half dozen pages in the Japan section have exes next to ship names (see pic). Pages 498-9 have what appears to be manufacturing related ink smears (see pic). For reference, the British editions (Sampson Low) use a quality of paper that has held up better than the North American edition (Macmillan). #372.
