ANCESTOR MASKLower Sepik River, Papua New Guinea
This mask is a finely and simply carved mask, obviously by an older man with much experience. The coloration also, with orange and blue is well and subtley done. The mask, like similar masks of this size are protective and used near the entry doorway, or inside a family house.
