Each story is inspired by a piece of music by, among others: Rembrandt, Chopin, and Schumann. Little is known of the author/ illustrator; Mera Sett is likely a pseudonym. Some sources believe that Sett was a pseudonym of William George Stirling (1887 – 1951). Whoever Sett was, he or she was clearly heavily influenced by Audrey Beasley.
