VTG 8 String Mandolin Butterfly Inlay - Needs Repair Multiple Flaws Sold AS IS.
Bought at an estate sale in vintage (possibly antique) condition. It's a beautiful piece with the inlay design, but it has a lot of flaws and issues and is need of repair/refurbishment. Multiple crack's and scuffs in the wood. The inlay on the bottom of the piece is wonky. There's what appears to be white paint marks in one spot. The wood is terribly dry and needs conditioning. I've tried my best to highlight the major issues with green arrows. Please be sure to look at all the photos to determine the condition and amount of restoration needed.
Measurements:
Hight: approximately 25 inches (top to bottom)
Length: approx. 11 inches (side to side - body of the mandolin)
Depth/Width: approx. 4.5 inches (thickets part of the body)
My research indicates this piece is for sure vintage (early 20th century); possibly late 19th century, so it may be antique. Also that it's a left handed mandolin as the thicker cords or on the right. The butterfly inlay is an indicator that the piece was manufactured in either Italy or the United States. Unfortunately, there was no provenance included with the piece when I bought it.
If this beautiful mandolin is not a candidate for refurbishment, it's a lovely display piece at the least!
Please, if you have questions, need more measurements or photos, email me prior to purchase.
Shipping is calculated based on dimensions, weight, buyers zip code in relation to sellers zip code (48336). This piece will be oversized due to it's dimensions and likely double boxed because it's so fragile. No money is gained by the seller on shipping.
