Its sound retains that distinctive midrange while improving tension and power. The result is a powerful overdrive that cuts through an ensemble with presence. The circuit deliberately shifts away from the original's RC4558 op-amp and BJT transistor buffer and instead uses JFETs. This raises the input impedance to nearly 10 megohms successfully reducing noise and enhancing the high frequencies. Plumes' sound is clearer and pushes your tube amp harder. In addition to Volume Gain and Tone the pedal offers three clipping modes. Mode 1 featuring a symmetrical LED delivers the Plumes' strongest distortion. When used with a clean amp it sounds more like a classic British amp. Mode 2 is a clean booster with the signal bypassing the clipping and going directly to the op-amp. Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode-based distortion pedal. This is the closest thing to the Plumes "Screamer" distortion but it has a louder output and a much clearer sound than the original. This model is equipped with Flexi-Switching an electronic relay-based true bypass that can be used as either a standard latching switch or a momentary unlatching switch depending on how you press the switch.
