Vintage Alphasonik TPX-83 3-Way Crossover Network 

For sale- Vintage Alphasonik TPX-83 3-Way Crossover Network as pictured.  Good news and bad news here.  I was the Alphasonik sales rep for a number of years in the late 80’s on into the 90’s.  These would have been a rep sample, so they have never been used, still in the original box with instructions.  Excellent physical condition.  Alphasonik started off as an importer of the German brand Visonik bringing in their excellent David series of speakers, so these are actually a WEST German product (most of the electronics were imported from Korea).

The BAD news is that I happened to give the one not in the plastic bag a shake and it rattled which is rarely a good sign in the electronics business.  So I pried off the bottom to see what it was and one of the capacitors has come unsoldered at one end.  My soldering skills are mediocre at best, I wouldn’t even consider trying to reattach it.  And you would be working in a very tight space to get it back into place.

If you are willing to give that a whirl then fine, I would expect them to work with that repair effectuated.  If you aren’t good at soldering please pass these by.  As you can see the crossover points are 270Hz and 2800Hz, with a 12dB per octave slope.  No reason you couldn’t use these in a home speaker BUT I would assume the crossover points are for 4 ohm automotive speakers, as I recall if the impedance changes so do the crossover points.
