(This supplement is very interesting, it is dated Fri., Nov 10, 1944 yet states that the race is tomorrow.

Obviously the soldiers in the field did not get the results of the 1944 Melbourne Cup until quite a few days after the race.)

 The Guinea Gold newspaper was published only for Australian and American troops.

It was the official newspaper of the Australian Military Forces published daily in Port Moresby, New Guinea, for circulation to the armed Forces of Australia and America operating in the region.

 Two editions were published, the Australian edition carrying Australian home news, the American edition carrying one page of American home news.

A four page sheet, each edition carries three pages of general news interest.

This material is mainly rewritten from newspapers.

These papers are 76 years old and originally printed on poor quality paper so generally they do not survive well.

The editions in the folder are well preserved and have survived very well.

 Interesting pieces of Australian Military History.

 The reason I am listing them all together is that they are all one collection being sent home one by one to various family members.

Unfortunately I don't have a name.

The two American editions are inscribed at the front top.

One says "TO BOB FROM DAD" the other "To Toots from Dad".

They were sent on October 4 and 5 1944.

There are no other markings.

The pages each measure approximately

 25cm by 28.5cm. (10in by 11 1/4in)

CONDITION - In good original used condition and showing wear consistent with age and use.

Very few faults: a folded corner here and there, couple of nicks, a tiny stain on one.

The cup supplement has a small tear.

The condition is very pleasing 8+.

The papers are presented in a black plastics folder as I received them and are well protected

        These original editions are good value....!!
