This is an original press photo. Mrs. Bernardina Sawyer, above, who was lodged for 12 hours in the cellar of the Camden City Hall jail with her two babies, Wayne, 7 months, (Left) and Marilyn, 20 months, (Right) on a charge of suspicion. They were placed in the cellar because there were no women's quarters in the $1,000,000 city hall. Mrs. Sawyer, who is supposed to have deserted a husband in New Hampshire, fed her babies with milk from a whiskey bottle.Photo measures 6 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 11-12-1939.
