Nippon porcelain, marked with "Nippon," was produced in Japan from 1891 to 1921 for export to Western markets. Morimura Brothers was a leading company in producing and exporting these wares.

Noritake, another prominent Japanese porcelain manufacturer, also created similar hand-painted pieces during this period. These items were popular for their delicate designs and high-quality craftsmanship. The floral motifs and gold accents were characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement and Art Nouveau styles prevalent at the time.

These pieces were often used as decorative items or for serving small dishes and desserts. The presence of handles and the scalloped edge add to its aesthetic appeal.
