ANTIQUE FRAMED NAPOLEON TAPESTRY

Gorgeous antique large framed Napoleonic woven tapestry wall hanging measuring about 35-1/4" wide by 17-1/2" deep. Featuring a social gathering of military officers in dress regalia, including Napoleon in iconic pose, they flirt with a variety of ladies in empire waist gowns. Done in a plush garden setting with statuary, columned patio, wide stairs and a hint of a mansion in the background, colors are muted pastels. Professionally framed in gold painted gesso over wood with a black paper backing over what feels like wood or similar hard board, it is complete with sturdy wire hanger.

Condition is excellent with no damage to the tapestry - no pulls, holes, discoloration, fading, or similar issues - gesso frame it without chips, cracks, repairs, etc., - it reflects muting and aging to the gold paint - no flaking or loss. Acquired recently from the estate of an avid Napoleon collector who purchased it in France. Romantic and lovely addition to any collection or display!
