This publication is the world's first encyclopedia of Jewish necropolis. It examines in detail almost all the plots found in the decoration of tombstones-matzevs in Ukraine, their meaning, hidden meaning and origin. The presented bas-reliefs are not just beautiful and highly artistic decor, but also an allegorical embodiment of the spirit, life and faith of the Jews of the past, their expectation of the coming of the Messiah, faith in eternal life and the future resurrection of the dead. With the help of a number of symbolic images, these decorations also tell about the merits, virtues and status of the deceased. The proposed study is devoted to a detailed explanation of these allegorical and metaphorical images. The ancient necropolis of the town of Satanov, located in the Khmelnytskyi region, was taken as a basis. It served the local community from the second half of the 16th century until the mid-20th century, until this community, which was perhaps the most respected in Podillia, was destroyed by the bloody wave of the Holocaust.
