The THV ¼” Pro Complete Base Pad is part of the flexible THV Padding System (originally designed by BALANCE International), which is integral to the Functional Saddling Method. This Method is designed to provide maximum comfort for the ridden horse and to support biomechanically correct movement. It also facilitates both postural and muscular recovery and maintenance.
The pad is made using a Pro-Lite gel-foam insert, which helps to protect the skin from shear forces created by movement, and protects the horse’s back. It has a ¼ inch (6.5mm) thickness of the Pro-lite 'gel-foam' along the full length of the saddle panels, plus an additional ¼ inch (6.5mm) internal lift at the front.
Because of the lift this pad creates under the front of the saddle, it’s really important that the saddle used with it is wide enough to allow for this, otherwise the pad will tip the saddle backwards and out of balance.
The pad is covered in a faux suede material and is available in black and brown. It is also available in Regular Length or ‘Long’ (please see measurements below). It has the loop side of a hook/loop fastening system along its full length so you can attach any other THV or BALANCE Add-on pads to it if needed.
