Up for your consideration is an
A beautiful Anglo American wall clock dating to the 1880’s. These unique clocks were a collaboration of American clockworks and English cases. This great example is crafted in walnut featuring a large round top above a long drop case. Very nicely appointed with carved foliate ornamentation on the sides, and intricate band inlays throughout. It also has a hinged door. Behind the glass panel, one can view the original "New Haven" label.Within, an 8-day mechanical movement keeps the time and marks the hour with a clear bell strike. The time displays on a painted metal dial with Roman numerals and blued steel trefoil hands. The clock comes from an older estate, and has its key and pendulum. However, it has not been tested, and I can make no guarantee of its completeness or working ability.
This ornate New Haven Wall Clock has marquetry inlay, and the working condition of the clock is unknown. The clock still has the original paper label that reads, "Jerome & Co.'s Superior 8-Day Anglo-American Clocks. For Home Use and Abroad. No Movement Genuine, Unless Stamped with the American Factory's Trade Mark. New Haven Trade Mark U.S.A." The dial has some paint loss, and there are some other small signs of surface wear, including an old scratch a few inches from the bottom, and the two "finials" extending horizontally, just under the door of the drop case, are slightly different. Overall, the clock looks to be in good condition. It measures 30" x 16 3/4" x 4 3/4".
