The book by clothing historian, reconstructor of material culture of different eras, artist and sculptor Serhiy Shamenkov tells and shows what the men of war looked like – warriors who from ancient times to the present day were, served and fought on the territory of modern Ukraine. The richly illustrated publication contains artistic reconstructions of the appearance of warriors, based on sources and the latest works of researchers of the material world of ancient eras. The publication publishes reconstructions of warriors of the Copper-Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, warriors of the ancient states of the Northern Black Sea region and nomadic horsemen of the Ukrainian steppes, ancient Germans and Slavs, ancient Russian warriors and knights of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Crimean Tatars and Ottoman Turks, warriors of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Ukrainian Cossacks, soldiers of the imperial armies and Ukrainian armed formations of the 20th century, as well as warriors who currently defend Ukraine from external aggression.
