You’re looking at a vintage mechanical music box made by Thorens, a Swiss manufacturer known for precision music boxes .

• The mechanism (visible through the glass) contains a rotating drum with pins and a comb with tuned metal teeth. As the drum turns, the pins pluck the teeth to produce notes.

• The inscription inside the lid reads in Swiss German:

“Nach em Räge, schint d’Sunne / Vo Luzern uf Weggis zue” — which translates roughly to:

“After the rain, the sun shines / From Lucerne towards Weggis”

This is the title/lyrics of a traditional Swiss folk song.

• Number marking “2/28” could indicate either a model or song reference.

So, in short — it’s a collectible Thorens Swiss music box that plays a Swiss folk melody.

Wear and tear:

- top of the box, scratches and discoloured ( from me using alcohol wipes).

- some corner wear.

- the metal joint part is not all flat. The box can still open and close, just the metal part is alittle worn.
