The Chappel Publishing Company issued this first edition, and presumed first printing of ADVENTURES OF AN AMATEUR HUNTER IN AFRICA by J.H. Eagle in 1915. The large, dense book measures about 7" x 9.5" and consumes 410 pages including an Appendix but not counting the generous allotment of photo illustrations. A rather high-end volume, we note that the publisher gilded the top of the text block, provided a frontispiece and decorated the front board with a pictorial pastedown of the author and his trophies. The text takes the form of the writer's diaries during his hunts in Africa.
Condition:
Sound book in good condition. Loss of some of the fabric on the spine else light shelfwear, especially for an antique volume. Prior owner's name on first free endpaper and on back pastedown, else text clean and unmarked.
We have adjusted the price to reflect the cosmetic fault on the spine.
