19th CENTURY ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR - CASTLE INTERIOR CIRC. 1840

A diminutive work in watercolour depicts a seated lady at a window within a castle interior. The painting may refer to Mary Queen of Scots, the small open window may relate to the loss and desire for freedom, behind where she is seated there is a model of what could be reference to the forshadowing of Tower of London.

The work is unsigned and unframed.

Good overall condition, old mount marks verso.
