Originally released in 1979, Laminar Flow was Roy Orbison’s 21st studio album and a stylistic shift into pop-rock territory. Known for his emotional ballads and operatic voice, Orbison here explores lighter textures and upbeat arrangements, with guest appearances from Steppenwolf guitarist Larry Byrom and singer-songwriter Mac McAnally. The track “Hound Dog Man” serves as a heartfelt tribute to Elvis Presley, while songs like “Easy Way Out” and “Love Is A Cold Wind” retain Orbison’s signature melancholy.
This 2023 reissue is pressed on bloody mary coloured vinyl, limited to 750 individually numbered copies, and includes a printed insert.
