Although I am not an expert, I believe this gorgeous piece is a souvenir  vintage ((1940-1950's) Japanese wood bear with a match safe (paintbrush holder, desk set holder).  It is a unique and intricately hand-carved sculpture, showcasing traditional Ainu Hokkaido forest wood and Craftsmanship. Not only do the bear cubs have glass eyes, but the tree trunk, which can be used for many things, makes this a very rare piece. Although the original label is missing, one can see where it was on the backside and that it was old. *Feedback for the buyer will be provided after confirmation from said Buyer of completed transaction.
