The club maker was James Clan from Chicopee, Ma. He obtained a patent on June 8, 1897, which is engraved on the club head.

'' The Spalding " is engraved on the shaft . The patent read Spalding Clan Brassie Cleek 

The club is featured on a full page in " The Club Maker's Art " by Jeffrey Ellis, page 321. See photos.

Finally, the club is featured in Chuck Furjanic's book, "Antique Golf Collectibles, 

on page 181 where he values the club at up to $1750. depending on condition. This club is in excellent condition..
