• The glass "snail" tilts forward smoothly for access to the ink reservoir and gently rocks back into place when closed — a subtle nod to the natural movement of its namesake. 
• While unmarked, its form and mechanism are strikingly similar to the patented 1878 “Clipper” inkwells by Peck, Stow & Wilcox, making it a coveted piece for collectors of antique writing instruments or Victorian curiosities.
