The first volume of the two-volume book “Vasyl Hryhorovych Krychevsky: Reader” is dedicated to the period of creativity of the outstanding Ukrainian artist-architect from 1891 to 1943. The publication contains text works by V. G. Krychevsky, selected research about him, autobiographical heritage, information about the artist’s personal exhibitions in 1940–1941, archival biographical materials, etc. Special attention is paid to the creative work of V. G. Krychevsky: painting, graphics, decorative and applied arts, film set design, architecture. A significant part of the master’s artistic heritage is published for the first time.
The book is an attempt to return from oblivion the “golden” name of Ukrainian art – Vasyl Hryhorovych Krychevsky: the creator of the national style in architecture – Ukrainian modernism, a beautiful set designer, graphic artist, talented film artist, etc. Most of the texts in the publication are a collection of sources about Vasyl Krychevsky from 1891 to 1943. However, some archival materials are published for the first time.
