"the new proprietor of my work and one of Mr. Vassar..."

Benson J.  Lossing was an American author and historian.

Authored over 4o books. Best known for his illustrated books on the American 
Revolution and American Civil War and features in "Harper's Magazine."

He amassed a large collection of  over 5,000 books and documents. 

Was a charter trustee of Vassar College.


Born: 1813, Beekman, New York; 1891, Dover Plains, New York.
