The proposed textbook is the first part of the educational complex for foreign citizens who wish to study the Ukrainian language for the purpose of further education, internship, employment, obtaining Ukrainian citizenship and passing the certification exam in Ukrainian as a foreign language. The textbook is intended for studying the Ukrainian language as a foreign language at the initial level (according to the Common European Recommendations for Language Education - level A1). The clear structure of the textbook is due to its division into blocks according to the thematic principle. The content of each lesson consists of a theoretical and practical block, a communicative topic, cloze tests, a thematic dictionary, etc. In order to develop reading and listening skills, short adapted texts are offered that familiarize foreign students with the most commonly used vocabulary of the modern Ukrainian literary language.
