Late Qing Dynasty Chinese Red Lacquer Bamboo Wedding Basket
This four tiered basket was most likely used by Peranakan ethnic Chinese, during the late qing dynasty china, during a period of time for a 12 day wedding ceremony. The baskets served as transport of wedding/ engagment gifts and foods between the brides and grooms families, baskets like these are typically made from woven cane and wood.
The translation of the writing on the top of the basket possibly translates to "Xiamen Tide Road"
