Victor 10-inch 78 RPM record # V-40054 is "I'm Lonely and Blue" and "The Sailor's Plea" by Jimmie Rodgers (also with the Three Southerners on the B side only. According to Tony Russell's "Country Music Records" discography, the sides were recorded on different dates in 1928. "I'm Lonely and Blue" is also considered "hot" enough for inclusion in Brian Rust's "Hot Jazz Discography."
The record still has a bit of shine to it, with a few light surface scuffs and scratches. I played both sides on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there were no skips or jumps, but varying degrees of audible background noise throughout, most of it light and unobtrusive, but some occasional pops and clicks and light ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment.
Also included is the Victor sleeve shown in the pictures, but it is creased, chipped and torn and doesn't add to the overall value.
