Item Information

This listing is for a Remanufactured Volkswagen/Audi 01M, 01N, 01P Valve Body, years 1999-UP. It has been upgraded over the OEM version for increased reliability. This valve body does have a Lock-Up Type Converter.

These upgrades include: a New EPC Shift Solenoid, Updated TCC Valve, Modified Main/Boost/Solenoid Regulator Valves, Specific New Updated End Plugs, and all Solenoids have been Rebuilt or Replaced with new.

CAUTION: Please be careful when purchasing parts on eBay, the majority of valve   bodies and parts being sold on here now are either used or made and   shipped from China. There are three sellers located in Florida that  sell nothing but used valve bodies claiming they are remanufactured,  updated and tested. There is also a company out of Columbus, Ohio that goes by CCore on here. They are a company called Capital Core that we used to get all of our cores from. With inflation leading to increased costs you cannot  remanufacture domestic valve bodies and sell them for $125-200 and you  cannot remanufacture foreign models and sell them for $400. The newer 6  and 8-speed valve bodies cost even more to rebuild. You don't have to buy from us, but you do get what you pay for, so please be careful.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a $100.00 Refundable Core Charge that has been included in the BUY IT NOW price of the valve body. Once you remove your defective valve body and return it to us, the Core Charge will be refunded to you through Paypal.

For detailed instructions, please read the Core Charge section below.

ALL Solenoids are retested before the valve body is shipped to you. Quality and reliability are our passion.

This valve body comes with a 1 YEAR WARRANTY, please see the Warranty Section below for complete details.

For complete details please see our Warranty section below.

Identification/Diagnostic Guide

A quick look at the history of this transmission. In 1990, Volkswagen introduced the 096 transaxle in the Corrado and Passat models. In 1992 the 098 transmission was introduced in the Eurovan. In 1995 Audi introduced the 097 transmission.

All three of these transmissions use the same valve body. In 1995 Volkswagen changed the design of these transmissions, thus the name change. The 096 became the 01M. The 097 became the 01N. The 098 became the 01P.

Valve Body Quick ID

The 096/097/098 can be ID'ed by a kidney shaped filter hole at the bottom of the valve body. The 01M/01N/01P can be identified by a round filter hole at the bottom of the valve body. Please see photos below.

There have been three different 01M/N/P valve bodies over the years. The 1995-1996 01M/N/P can be identified by the plastic end plug at the K1 actuator valve(See Figure 1). The 1997-1998 and the 1999 and UP valve bodies have an aluminum end plug at the K1 actuator valve(See Figure 2).

The only way to accurately identify the valve body is to remove the upper separator plate and look for the last two digits of the year cast into the valve body, or ID the worm track configuration(See Figure 3.1 and 3.2).

                                                         (Figure 3.1)

                                                      (Figure 3.2)

CAUTION! PLEASE BE AWARE: DO NOT ASSUME the year cast into the bottom aluminum cover is the correct year! ALL 01M/N/P covers, regardless of model year, will fit and operate correctly on any 01M/N/P Valve Body. Our remanufactured 01M/N/P valve bodies WILL have the correct year bottom cover.

Tiptronic vs. Non-Tiptronic Identification

Most Volkswagen's in the United States that use the 01M/N/P transmission are Non-Tiptronic, however, there is a Tiptronic version of this transmission that is used in other parts of the world. The Tiptronic Version of the 01M/N/P has different separator plates and the casting is also different.

The Tiptronic and the Non-Tiptronic Versions are NOT interchangeable.

As an assembly, both styles look very much alike, even side-by-side. On the opposite side of the valve body from the EV-6 and DV-7 Solenoids, there are 3 valve bores. Please review the photos below to determine which style 01M/N/P you require.

PLEASE NOTE: We remanufacture all years of the Non-Tiptronic Style. If you require a Tiptronic style, we can remanufacture it for you on an R&R basis. Please contact us for a quote.

Lastly, please see the below important procedure for when you replace the valve body.
