Icatu Coffee (Coffea sp.) is a hybrid Arabica cultivar developed in Brazil through a complex breeding program involving Coffea canephora (Robusta) and Coffea arabica, aiming to combine high yield and disease resistance with good cup quality. Icatu plants are recognized for their vigorous growth, deep root systems, and high tolerance to coffee leaf rust and drought conditions. The cherries are typically medium to large in size, maturing evenly with a good fruit-to-bean ratio. In the cup, Icatu often displays a balanced profile with mild acidity, medium body, and flavor notes ranging from nuts and cocoa to subtle fruity undertones. This cultivar adapts well to both low and medium altitudes and is appreciated by farmers for its resilience and consistent productivity across various environmental conditions. Its genetic background makes it suitable for regions that face challenges like climate variability or disease pressure.
