Niche: a place for placing Buddha statues
Niche: originally refers to dig rock cliff for empty, in order to place the Buddha. According to the records in volume 4 of the Buddhist Scripture of samadhi, there are numerous niches in Xumi mountain, among which there are countless Buddhas. According to the records in volume 177 of the treatise on dabipusha, the Buddha of Disha went to the mountain, barked at the glazed niches, applied Buddhist nuns' sandals, sat down at the beginning, and entered the fire.
Today's major Buddhist relics, such as India's Ajanta, ailora, China's Yungang, Longmen and other grottoes, are carved with niches of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Later generations turned to stone or wood, made into a cupboard shape, and set the door, to worship the Buddha, known as the niche; it is a shrine set for sacrifice, worship, purification of the mind and mind.
