Two Antique Satsuma Shimazu Hakusan Hand Painted Meiji Period Vases.

A beautiful pair of antique Japanese Satsuma vases,
with very dark cobalt blue base colour glaze,
hand painted with delicate traditional scenes,
they scenes are identical but reversed on the pair,
and hey have been finished with over glaze gilding.
The feature hand painted gilt on red markings on the underside,
with the Shimazu clan crossed circle,
and what we believe is the Hakusan (white mountain) kiln marking,
and production dates to around the late 19th early 20th century.

They both stand around 19 cm's (7.5") in height,
and 10 cm's (4") in diameter at the widest point.

Both are in very good condition, a little dusty within from use,
the over glaze gilding has the usual wear/fading on the blue areas,
but the main images have retained most of theirs,
light crazing throughout commensurate with age,
all as shown in the pictures.

All proceeds from this sale go to charity,
supporting the work of the Devon Air Ambulance.
