These are basic, affordable plastic fids which will make splicing rope much easier without breaking the bank.  Each fid is hollow, allowing for deeper insertion of the rope without the need for tape or other means of securing the rope during typical splicing operations.  

These fids will get the job done, but due to the low price, they may have small plastic shards left over from the molding process.  To prevent sharp edges from snagging the inside of the rope, it is recommended to check the fid for any shards and remove with a razor knife or sand paper before starting a splicing job.
