Kawase Hasui was a pupil of Kiyokata, and he was affected by "The Eight Views of Omi" which was created by Ito Shinsui. He became one of the most famous Shinhanga artists and left more than 600 artworks over about 40 years. He preferred to use blue in his works, and it is often called "Hasui Blue". His excellent techniques and expressions have fascinated not only Japanese people but also people from all over the world, for instance, Steve Jobs.
