Antique Karaman Taşkale Anatolian Pillow Front | Mini Rug | Wool l 90-100 Years Old
This piece is an antique Anatolian pillow front (pillow face) from the Karaman Taşkale region, presented today as a mini rug. The original backing has been removed, which was common when these pieces were later repurposed or preserved, allowing the woven surface and wool quality to be fully appreciated.
Woven approximately 90–100 years ago, this pillow front features exceptional natural root-dyed colors with a remarkable harmony throughout the composition. One of its most striking characteristics is the subtle transition from blue to purple tones, creating depth and movement across the surface—especially noticeable in the central field.
The motifs reflect classic Central Anatolian symbolism, with balanced geometric forms that convey protection, continuity, and abundance. The surrounding borders frame the central design beautifully, adding rhythm and visual strength to the overall piece.
The wool is soft, luminous, and high quality, with a pleasing texture that still feels vibrant despite its age. Professional washing and cleaning have been completed, and the piece is ready for use or display.
At the lower end, one or two rows are missing, which is clearly visible and consistent with the age and authenticity of the piece. Aside from this minor detail, the pillow front is in very good overall condition for an antique textile of this period.
