The DVD Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008), released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on October 21, 2008 (UPC often listed as 043396244788 for the U.S. edition), is a made-for-TV action-horror flick directed by Don E. FauntLeRoy. This third installment in the Anaconda franchise, running 91 minutes and rated R for violence, gore, and language, comes in a standard keep case. The cover typically features a menacing giant snake coiled around a lab or forest setting, with stars David Hasselhoff, Crystal Allen, and John Rhys-Davies billed prominently.

The plot follows a secret Romanian research facility where scientist Dr. Amanda Hayes (Allen) experiments on two genetically enhanced anacondas, hoping their blood orchids hold a cure for terminal illness. Funded by shady industrialist Murdoch (Rhys-Davies), the project goes awry when the snakes—a male and a pregnant female—escape, leaving a trail of bodies. Enter Hammett (Hasselhoff), a grizzled mercenary hired to hunt them down. The action unfolds with snake attacks, cheap CGI, and a predictable race to stop the creatures before the queen’s offspring hatch. Shot back-to-back with Anacondas: Trail of Blood in Romania, it leans hard into B-movie territory—think Bucharest doubling as a jungle.

The DVD offers a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, capturing the film’s low-budget aesthetic with dark, murky visuals that mask some of the shoddy effects. Audio is English Dolby Digital 5.1, with French and Spanish options on some releases, plus subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. Extras are bare-bones: usually just a theatrical trailer or scene selection. The disc reflects its Sci-Fi Channel roots—campy, gory fun with snakes that spit acid and munch on locals, but it’s a far cry from the original’s theatrical polish.

Critics panned it (2.8/10 on IMDb), calling out the wooden acting and laughable effects, though some fans enjoy its so-bad-it’s-good vibe. It’s a lean, shameless creature feature for late-night viewing—perfect if you’re in on the joke.
