Description
ANTIQUE HALF DOLL PIN CUSHION
Gorgeous antique porcelain half doll pin cushion measuring about 9" tall to her hair top. Featuring a beautifully molded torso and head, she is posed with graceful arms that move, very finely hand painted features complete with come hither side-glancing eyes, bow lips, shadow and graceful arches and beauty mark. Wearing an ornate wig, she is dressed in her original silk and lace gown. Mounted on a straw stuffed pin cushion with cardboard riser base, she appears to have a waxed finish.
Condition is beautifully worn with a charming shabbiness - she is very fragile. The silk on her gown is blown and pulled with areas of shredding - lace is dark by design - dress is very soiled from dust and age - I am afraid to touch it to clean due to how fragile the fabric feels - her back is soiled, but again, I am afraid to try to clean. The underside of the cardboard base has tearing and wear to the silk wrap - her hair is a bit messy from age and display. Her face is absolutely wonderful - she has a haughty, pursed lip pose - I believe she is French in origin - dating early 1900s and probably Art Deco in era - doll is not signed.
Just a beautiful antique pin cushion half doll combination - from an estate collection - lovely addition to any sewing, vanity or pin cushion collection!
