Run the wheel in a protected area (such as under a bench) for one minute before cutting.
Cut only materials designed for the cut-off wheel (e.g. metal, masonry, etc.)
Always use the proper size and thickness of Cut Off Wheel for the material being cut
Not pushing too hard on the wheel, which can cause the grinder to stall or kickback or give a less efficient cutting action, while also increasing the chances of slippage or loss of control of the tool, resulting in injury or damage.
