The role of the secondary air pump:

The fresh air is sucked into the air pump and then pumped into the exhaust system. After the fresh air enters the exhaust system, it will accelerate the catalytic reaction of the three-way Cui carburetor, and convert the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas into carbon dioxide and water. To the role of environmental protection! If the car's exhaust is broken, it will exceed the standard.

The working principle of the secondary air pump:

When the engine is working, the air pump is driven by the crankshaft drive belt, and the air flow with large pumping volume and lower pressure enters the diverter valve through the hose. Under normal circumstances, the valve on the diverter valve is opened, and the air flows through the diverter valve and the one-way valve into the air injection manifold.

The air injection manifold injects air flow into the engine exhaust hole or exhaust manifold, and reacts with HC and CO in the exhaust gas to further convert it into CO2 and water vapor to reduce exhaust pollution. Once the air pressure pumped by the air pump is too high, the pressure relief valve will act and instantly cut off the air supply to the air injection manifold to prevent backfire in the engine.

After a few seconds, the two-way valve drops and resumes supplying air to the air injection manifold. The secondary air injection system works normally.

The secondary air system is one of the external purification devices that reduce exhaust emissions. It blows additional air (secondary air) into the exhaust gas to increase the oxygen content in it. In this way, the unburned harmful substances carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) in the exhaust gas are burned again in a high temperature environment.
