1938 Press Photo Bradford Washburn Jr. talks to reporter after seaplane crash
This is an original press photo. Seattle - Bradford Washburn, Jr., is seen, right, talking to a reporter, following the crash of a seaplane which he was piloting in to Lake Union here late today, resulting in the deaths of two women in passengers. Washburn is a Harvard geologist and noted young explorer. Last year he led a National Geographic Society expedition to the top of 17,500-foot Mount Lucania, in Alaska. He is in Seattle en route to Alaska where he plans to climb several other high peaks this summer.Photo measures 4.75 x 6inches. Photo is dated 05-07-1938.
