Interesting Facts: The Terracotta Army or the "Terracotta Warriors and Horses" is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang , the first Emperor of China . It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210-209 BCE and whose purpose was to protect the emperor in his afterlife .In 1974, the vast burial chamber of third-century Chinese Emperor Qin Shihuangdi was discovered by farmers in the north -central Shaanxi Province. It contained more than 7,000 life-size terra-cotta warriors. This is a handcrafted miniature 4" terra-cotta model of the classic pose of a "KNEELING ARCHER".Kneeling Archers were important attack force in Qin's army who were supposed to start attack with a rain of arrows. Kneeling archers were unearthed in Pit 2, totaling about 160, in the middle of the archer formation. These warriors wear campaign gown and light armor to protect their torsos and shoulders to ensure swift movement with some protection.  A life-size model of the archer was discovered in the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang in 1974.
