This is a rare 57-jewel model of the Rado Golden Horse.
The 57-jewel version was a limited edition, produced to commemorate the founding of the Rado brand in 1957. It represents the highest-grade model in the Golden Horse series.
The Golden Horse was well-regarded for its Swiss-made automatic movement (with manual winding capability) and its water-resistant case, which was considered advanced for its time.
A signature feature of the Horse series is the seahorse motif—Rado’s symbol of water resistance—found on both the dial and the case back.
On this particular piece, two seahorses are featured facing each other, one on the dial and one on the case back.
The screw-down case back is engraved with the words "Water-Sealed."
(Please note that, due to its age, the watch should no longer be considered water-resistant.)
The seahorse emblem on the case back occupies a large portion of the surface, and the case itself features an attractive combination of mirror-polished and brushed finishes.
The dial features distinctive wedge-shaped hour markers at the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock positions—an uncommon and eye-catching design element.
