Cypraeovula cohenae

Description

This is a large beach-collected example of Cypraeovula cohenae, a very rare and unusual cowrie. It's believed to be a natural hybrid of C. fuscodentata × C. edentula, and is not often found—especially not in good condition.

This one shows the typical form and pattern of the species. It’s dead collected, with a fishbite on the back of the dorsum. Still, a very decent and large representative of a tough-to-get species. Most known examples are beach shells like this one.

Additional Notes

Hard to find and not often offered. A must for collectors of hybrids or South African endemics. Data slip included.
