1958 Press Photo Ships docked in Jones Island, Milwaukee include foreign vessels

This is an original press photo. Most of the 10 ocean vessels which were docked here Thursday are pictured in this view of Jones Island. The foreign ship traffic broke Milwaukee harbor records. The flag bedecked Veslefjell (right foreground) of the Fjell-Oranje Line, the first foreign vessel to arrive into port here this year, on April 24, had proceeded to Chicago and returned this week. Two large Great Lakes tankers (one upper right) also were here Thursday. Air Views. Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-09-1958.
