Vintage Harman Kardon Three Thirty Stereo Receiver
For sale- a Vintage Harman Kardon Three Thirty Stereo Receiver as pictured. I’ve had this piece now for maybe five years and it served as the basis for a nice sounding system out on the enclosed porch. What’s changed in that length of time is the house next door has become a summer rental and I don’t really want to be blasting someone on vacation with music while they are trying to relax. So it is sitting here unused just waiting for a capacitor to go bad, so I thought I would sell it while it is still working.
Just checked and with a CD input it sounds really nice. The source selector switch is very noisy and at first I wasn’t having much luck with an FM signal but it finally came around to my way of thinking. I would guess that all of the front panel switches could stand a shot of contact cleaner but it is usable as is. Cosmetically pretty good for it’s age although several of the knobs have lost their little silver trim dot which seems pretty typical. Just now noticing the signal strength meter is not illuminated so I can’t say whether that is working or not. The phono input has not been tested because I don’t have a working turntable at this point.
I’m not sure of the exact time frame these were produced. I was selling the 330C at retail in about 1977, so this is probably what, early 70’s? So it’s fifty years old, give or take. I see that there are restoration kits available to recap the thing, and given the propensity of capacitors of this vintage to let go it’s probably not far from needing just that.
The point being I’m not shipping this out for an audition. It has been tested (as of 5/24/25) with a CD input to the AUX in which is how I would have listened to it in years past. I have checked and after some noise issues with the selector switch it played some FM for me too (I rarely listen to the radio so the selector switch has not gotten much of a workout). So I would say it works. Today. I will check it again before it ships. Even so, you may get it and a week later it doesn’t. In which case it will be up to you to repair it, I don’t want it back.
All items are sold as is with no warranty offered unless one is specifically stated. Any testing done will be explicitly stated in the listing and any accessory items will also be mentioned or pictured. If it isn’t pictured or mentioned you can assume it is not part of the sale. In this case ONLY the receiver is being offered, the attached wiring stays behind for whatever replaces it. That goes for the DVD player sitting on top in the first picture as well.
