I have a Simplicity pattern #9571 that features Easy-To-Sew valances and swags. The package contains instructions and patterns for the following:

Valances are suitable for windows 40" W with 3" rod pocket. Make more than one of view A for different window looks. View B can face either direction. Pleated valance views C and D are on a single rod.
