ITEM DESCRIPTION


Up for your consideration is an original woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, 1786-1865). This is an original, first-state print, and was done in 1861 (during the artist's lifetime). The title of the print is "Sawamuva Tanosuke as Geisha". The print has 4 tiny holes in its lower right side. There are minor losses on the corners. Other than the aforementioned, the piece is in good overall condition, and it presents exceptionally well. The paper measures 14 1/2" x 9 3/4". It comes in a matte, which measures 20" x 16". The matte (in which the artwork is hinge mounted) shows signs of adhesive removal in the upper right corner. It does not affect the print.
