1967 Press Photo U.S. Tank Afire after North Vietnamese Ambush, Cam Lo

This is an original press photo. A gunner on top of a truck looks in vain for enemy snipers as smoke from a burning United States tank blackens the sky after a North Vietnamese ambush. The Communists opened up on the Marine battalion moving on the road from Cam Lo toward the demilitarized zone and blew a heavy mine under the tank, killing its occupants. Photo measures 9.75 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-22-1967.
