This is an original work by renowned Japanese painter Hashimoto Gahō, acquired from an antique auction in Fukuoka, Japan.
The set includes two hanging scrolls featuring a dragon and a tiger, which were originally part of a three-scroll series.
The works are believed to date from the late Edo to early Meiji period (mid-to-late 19th century).
The bold brushwork and delicate detail are characteristic of Hashimoto’s masterful style.

Hashimoto Gahō (August 21, 1835 – January 13, 1908)
A renowned Japanese painter of the Meiji era.
His real name was Nagatake, and his childhood name was Sentarō. He also used several art names including Shōen, Juggansai, Kokkisai, and Suigetsugasei.
A leading figure in the modernization of Nihonga (Japanese-style painting), Hashimoto blended traditional Kanō school techniques with Western painting methods.
He also served as a professor at the Tokyo Fine Arts School (now Tokyo University of the Arts), where he played a key role in educating the next generation of artists. - Condition
